Youth Programs at John Knox Church
John Knox Church was originally founded to augment the Christian Education at local churches. Over 60 years later, we are still gladly committed to provide excellent oportunities for youth of all ages to Discover, Rejoice and Share.
Our youth groups are organized by age/grade, and there are many opportunities for intergenerational education, fellowship and mission. Take a look below at our programs for children and youth!
Nursery Care: Up to Three Years Old
We offer nursery care on Sunday mornings at the 9:30 and 11:00 services. Our nursery is staffed by a professional childcare worker and volunteers. The nursery is an excellent option for children to play while parents, grandparents and family members are rejuvenated in worship. On some Sundays, children will attend or participate in the Worship Service; we call these "Family Sundays." Nursery care IS offered these Sundays, though there might not be Sunday School for the older children. Additionally, professional nursery care may be requested in advance so family members can attend meetings or rehearsals. Please contact the office for more information.
Children's Ministry: Three Years Old to Grade Six
Several educational opportunities are available for children three years to sixth grade on Sunday mornings at each service. Sunday School is offered at 9:30 and 11:00 am services most of the year. To see this season's offerings for classes, please continue reading about our children's ministries. Contact our Director of Christian Education if you have any questions.
Confirmation Classes: Grades Seven to Nine
Our seventh through ninth graders are invited to learn about many topics relevant to life as the Church. Questions are encouraged, as exploration is one of the keys to growth and understanding. The confirmation curriculum touches on basic organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Biblical topics, and being Christ's hands and feet in the world. In the spring of ninth grade, children are invited to become members of our church if they so choose, and the mentoring that occurs throughout the year is always valuable. Learn about our Confirmation Program for 7-9 graders or contact our Associate Pastor to discuss our confirmation classes. Confirmation classes meet during the 11:00 am service from September to May.
Highschool Sunday School: Grades Ten to Twelve
Our highschoolers are very involved both in the life of our church and our worship services! The highschool Sunday School class meets in the Youth Room during the 11:00 am service from September to May. Discussion topics and Bible study rejuvenate and center us for the week ahead. Highschoolers are also welcome to attend any classes offered by the Spiritual Growth Committee that might be of interest. Our highschool fellowship group, which includes ninth graders, meets twice per month and is called CREW.
We are excited to see how your family will get involved in the life of John Knox Church! Parents are a valuable part of a child's spiritual formation, and at times we utilize volunteers with each of our Sunday School levels or fellowship activities. Please contact our Associate Pastor to get involved.
