The Confirmation process at John Knox is a three-year program of Christian Education, service, fellowship and worship. Our seventh-through-ninth-graders are invited to learn about many topics relevant to life as the Church. The confirmation curriculum touches on basic organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Biblical topics, and being Christ's hands and feet in the world. Questions are encouraged, as exploration is one of the keys to growth and understanding.
During the third year (ninth grade), students will have an opportunity to work with a mentor, write a statement of faith and make a decision about joining the church in the Spring. Students will spend many hours discussing their questions of faith, how they see God at work and what the church means to them.
Each student will have their own mentor in this ninth grade year. Our mentors are members of our congregation who have expressed an interest in the youth and have great wisdom and patience. The individual mentoring experience is something our newly confirmed members carry with them their whole lives, with the mentoring relationship continuing all throughout high school and beyond.
When students are confirmed in May of their ninth grade year, they are officially welcomed into membership at John Knox. Confirmation classes meet during the 11:00 AM service in the Youth Wing from September to May. If you have any questions, please contact Susanne Bendoraitis at email@example.com.
