Giving at John Knox

God’s Gifts to Us

We believe that everything that we have and are is a gift of God. This is one of the ways we talk about God’s grace, or, in other words, a free gift. When God gives, there are no strings attached. God never says to us, “I’m giving this to you so that you are nice to me.” God gives because God loves us just the way we are right now.

Responding

Now, it’s true that in life we earn things and have stuff. What we call “stewardship” is how we take care of that stuff in a way that honors God as the giver of all that is good. Stewardship plays a huge role in what we do at John Knox. We try to take good care of what has been given to us and share with others as much we can. In this way, we ask you to join with us in how we are stewards of God’s gifts to each of us and our church. Although it’s not required, please consider becoming a partner with us with financially and in mission. Click an option below to find out more information about how to give.

  • There are many ways to contribute financially to John Knox.

    1. Give online. Click the button above or click here to use a credit card to make a donation.

    2. Set up reoccurring gifts. This can also be done through our online giving platform by clicking “give multiple times” instead of “give once”, or you can contact our Finance Manager, Mindi Schibley.

    3. Mail a check to the church. Our address is 25200 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, OH, 44070.

    4. Drop an envelope in offering box near the sanctuary or at the office. We’d love to see you! Make sure to say hello when you come by.

  • Donating stock or securities is another way you can fulfill your operating pledge and make a special year-end gift. It could help you avoid paying capital gains tax on appreciated stocks, and John Knox will receive the full value. Making a gift of stock is easy:

    1. Contact your broker and provide them with the transfer information: DTC Number 0164 Charles Schwab: Account Number 9820-3777 John Knox Presbyterian Church

    2. Contact our Finance Manager, Mindi Schibley, to notify her of the pending transfer at 440-777-3744 x 102, or mschibley@johnknoxpc.org.

    3. Once the stock is transferred, Mindi will be notified, the stock will then be sold, and the church will receive the proceeds.

    4. You will receive a donation receipt from John Knox indicating the details of the donation for tax reporting purposes.

Mission

God has not empowered us to hoard or collect money or stuff so that we can show off. Instead, we are invited to reach out to others in our community and in the world so that we might give them an opportunity they might not have had before. John Knox is connected with various organizations in Cleveland and throughout the world so that we can faithfully respond with the gifts God has given us through you. If you would like to give to God through your time, please check out our Ministries page to see how you can get involved.
