Here at John Knox, children, youth, and families will experience God in a new and inspiring ways!

We believe growing your faith extends beyond the walls of our church. Faith formation can take place anywhere, because God is always there ready to amaze (we call these God sightings). We also believe that a Christ-centered family and home, no matter the shape or size, is where children will see God at work in our everyday lives.

God wants you to thrive no matter where you are (at home, at school, at work, at church) or who you are (as parents, as kids, as youth, as families). We invite you to join us on this adventure, with God’s love at the center, and be a part of Thrive! Family Ministries as John Knox. We cannot wait to see what God has in store for you!

Our promise is to help you:

  • Discover how to love God and love others, using your unique gifts and talents.

  • Learn how God loves you and has a plan for you.

  • Find your space to craft your faith journey.

  • Make friends and build meaningful relationships.

  • Have fun and get excited and curious about your faith.

  • Connect with your family by serving and learning together.

  • Meet and connect with other families of all shapes and kids of all ages.

  • Be assured of an inviting, welcoming and safe place for all.

  • Be supported by caring and nurturing volunteers and staff.

  • Discover valuable resources and spiritual guidance for parents/caregivers.

What can I expect for my child?

There are programs for all ages, including infants, toddlers, pre-school, elementary school, middle school and high school. We aim for a safe, judgement-free environment. Children can be expect to come as they are, ready to have fun, meet new friends, and engage with supporting and caring staff and volunteers. And best of all, to learn and grow into the amazing people God has created them to be.

Children (up to 5th grade)

Our Children’s Ministry aims at creating a safe environment where God’s love is at the center. We offer a loving and secure nursery environment for your little ones on Sunday mornings! Our nursery is staffed by caring and qualified caregivers who will watch over your children while you attend the service. There are age-appropriate toys to engage you child in fun and learning. Come a few minutes early to complete the secure check-in and rest assured that your child will be well cared for and loved.

The elementary years are the foundation of learning the power of God’s love and the opportunity to discover the gifts and talents each child is given. Our goal is to inspire each child’s spiritual curiosity through engaging curriculum and hands-on learning and fun. Check out some of our regular programs for this age group.

Families

We offer opportunities for the whole family to learn, grow and have fun together. From “Second Hour” Sunday activities, social and faith formation events, and special activities during Advent and Lent, families have the chance to connect with each other and with other families at John Knox. We also work to connect families to the church through mission, intergenerational worship and all areas of the church.

Parents/Caregivers

Parenting is a privilege, but it certainly doesn’t come without its challenges. At John Knox we are committed to walking alongside parents and caregivers to support them in their journey and provide tools and resources to help them focus on God’s guidance as they raise their children.
